Sirenews is the newsletter of the IUCN/SSC Sirenia Specialist Group. The
IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) is a science-based network of
volunteer experts working together towards achieving the vision of “A world
that values and conserves present levels of biodiversity.” The Sirenia
Specialist Group is focused on the conservation of manatee and dugong
populations around the world.

Sirenian International

Sirenian International, Inc., is a grassroots organization of people who share a dedication to manatee & dugong research, education, and conservation. We are a partnership of scientists, students, educators, conservationists, and the public. Participating Members are actively involved in manatee and dugong projects around the world.

Dugong, Seagrass and Coastal Communities Initiative

The Dugong, Seagrass and Coastal Communities Initiative encompasses complementary activities to support the conservation of dugongs and their seagrass habitats throughout the over 40 Range States. The initiative is coordinated by the Secretariat of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation and Management of Dugongs and their Habitats throughout their Range (Dugong MoU) and is designed to achieve the nine objectives of the Dugong MoU Conservation and Management Plan (CMP) which address conservation of dugongs and their seagrass habitats, awareness and education, and cross-cutting issues.
